White City, Oregon—Southern Oregon Speedway featured a full racing card for Sherwin Williams Night on Saturday, August 3rd. Classes on the card included the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods, CD Architecs Late Models, Stone Heating & Air Dwarf Cars, and Kona Bento Sport Compacts.

Ty Williams reached the point at the start of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature. The Tulelake, California driver would have tragedy strike as he got sideways in turn two with three laps complete and got collected by another car. That gave the lead to Ryder Boswell of Yreka, California.

Also representing Yreka, California, Ryan Peery started to challenge, but Boswell held him back. Peery again came to call on lap eight and got the lead, but the caution came out before it would be officially counted.

On the restart, Peery, representing Yreka, California, once again demonstrated his determination. He went on the offensive, but unfortunately got sideways in turn four and came to a halt, resulting in another stoppage.

Matt Sanders, from Brookings, emerged as a new threat with his exceptional skills. He made a sweeping maneuver around the outside of Boswell in the fourth turn of the ninth circuit to become the new trailblazer, followed by Salem's Trevor Points progressing to second.

The ninth-place starter had no issues while at the head of the pack, whether in the open or lapped traffic. There would be a late race caution with three to go, eliminating the massive advantage that Sanders had constructed.

However, Sanders dominated the rest of the way to score his second victory at SOS this year and his seventh overall in 2024. Points was behind him in second, while the battle for third came down to the last lap with the position going to Ethan Killingsworth, from Yreka, California. Boswell wound up fourth, with fifth going to Gold Hill's Joby Shields.

Chico, California's Richard Papenhausen, was an unstoppable force in the CD Architects' main event. Edging out Dustin Knight of Central Point for first place on the opening circuit, Papenhausen took off and left the rest of the competition in his tracks.

Twice, the yellow came out after the completion of the first lap, but on both occasions, Papenhausen mastered them, going on to win his second victory of the year at the 3/8-mile clay oval.

John David Duffie, from Medford, beat Central Point chauffeur Chris Salyer for second. Knight was fourth, followed by Pescadero, California traveler Dennis Souza in fifth.

Medford's Caydn Smith showed the way early in the Stone Heating & Air Dwarf Cars. Off to a great start, his advantage was eliminated due to a caution on lap six. On the restart, things intensified as Josh King, also from Medford, got side by side with Smith on the back straight and got the top spot out of turn four to lead the seventh circuit.

Three more cautions came out, but one thing remained: King was dominant while up front. Two additional cautions slowed things down for King, but it wasn't enough to slow him down to win his third win of 2024 at SOS.

Central Point pilots Colby Bergquist and Trevor Davis placed second and third, respectively. Rogue River teenager Vinny DeBenedetti placed fourth, followed by Travis Gergel from Grants Pass, who placed fifth.

The Kona Bento Sport Compact finale began with Bryce Barnes of Medford leading the early stages. Barnes had a fast piece but was tracked down by White City's Andrew Medeiros on lap eight. Medeiros was occupied with Amos Jackson, from Trail, throwing a slider on him for second the ninth time around.

Jackson would not settle for second as he blasted his way into the race lead on lap eleven. He took off from the rest of the contenders to earn his first win of the campaign.

Jim Medeiros of Central Point was the runner-up, while Barnes made the podium with his third-place effort. David and Andrew Medieros were fourth and fifth.
